Formation Flying
The Rockhampton Aero Club has two senior instructors qualified to issue formation flying endorsements. These are best conducted for two people at the same time (ie: one in each plane) and can be undertaken in either our C150 or C172 aircraft. Be sure to visit the gallery to see photos from recent formation flights. The cost is approximately $1300 per person in the Cessna 150.
Tailwheel
For the private pilot who wants to purchase a tailwheel aircraft or if you just want to challenge yourself further, a tailwheel endorsement is heaps of fun and teaches you ultimate control of your aircraft. Dependant on the type of aircraft used, this can take as little as a few hours.
Multi-engine Aircraft Endorsements
For the first twin-engine aircraft you fly, you must undergo a course of training to allow you to be proficient at all emergencies associated with multi-engine flight. From there on, each twin engine aircraft you get an endorsement for is a relatively quick and easy process. The Aero Club is able to conduct training for both intial and supplementary endorsements and can issue endorsements for numerous aircraft types including Partenavia, Islander, Seneca, Baron, Cessna 310/340 and many more. Call the office to find out more.
Manual Propeller Pitch Control & Retractable Undercarriage
Once you have achieved your GFPT or PPL, you will probably be keen to step into a faster and more complex aeroplane. These endorsements are the natural next step, opening up the opportunity to fly virtually every single engine aircraft less than 5700kg. Using our Cessna 182, we can conduct a MPPC (often referred to as Constant Speed Unit) endorsement, or cover both the MPPC and RG in the Piper Arrow. The training involves four hours of flying including a solo component and we can conduct this over the one day or split it into two.
Aerobatics Training
If you think you've done it all, you will love having a go at Aerobatic flying. The club currently conducts aerobatic training in a Cessna 150 aerobat and will soon be upgrading to a Decathlon. Try having a go at a roll, loop, spin or even a roll off the top! An aerobatic endorsement is easy to achieve as we teach you the different abilities and limitations of the aircraft over 8 hours of aerobatic flying.
