The Rockhampton Aero Club holds regular competitions to enhance pilot skills. At each of six events members can score points for Balloon Bursting, Flour Bomb dropping and Spot Landing. Each skill scores a maximum of 10 points. A winner is declared after each competition day and trophies are awarded at the annual Wings Dinner Night for overall winners. A Night Flying competition is held over two Friday nights in August.
The Club is also actively involved in promoting flying within the Central Queensland Area and works closely with the Old Station Flying Club to promote its annual Fly-In on the Queens Birthday weekend in June.
The Central Queensland Gliding Club and the Aero Club hold a joint Fly In/Glide In day at Dululu Field each year where we all get to experience an alternate form of flight. It is always a great day out.
